Abstract

At the opening session, the co-chairs will welcome the conference participants. Marco Janssen and Xiao-Shan Yap will shortly reflect on 50 years after the Limits to Growth framework and envision the next 50 to 100 years from the perspective of rapid human progress in space. They will then present four future scenarios of how humanity and life on Earth might co-evolve with their rapid advancements in space. The session will then move on to an exciting panel moderated by Timiebi Aganaba, going into deeper discussions on the future dilemma or struggles humanity might face in the next 50 to 100 years when dealing with issues related to justice, earth-space resource trade-offs, and broader sustainability issues.
